DT's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum - Spring 2000 : These are really old photos, and they don't show the lighting very well. But it was good, trust me.

Variety Tech Show - Fall 2002 : This was my first stab at taking pictures of my own work. Came out alright I guess. I wish my camera's white balance didn't get so easily confused. This was a really great show. Jon and I started on Sunday and had the show up and cue'd by Thursday. (granted we didn't sleep in between)

LALT's My Better Half - Spring 2003 : Lighting for this show wasn't out of this world..just standard and warm with a little lav from the front to smooth things out. This show went on to win the NM AACT fest competition. We then performed it in Amarillo, TX with a house plot. I thought it looked better in TX, what with the real theatre and all. The amazing thing about this show was that I was able to light it well with such limited equipment . Especially considering that the plot for Dweller was up at the same time!

LALT's Dweller in the Ravine - Spring 2003 : I am really proud of this show. I think it came out looking beautiful and evocative. The thing that makes me proud is that I was able to pull it off with 22 dimmers, an ancient board, an 8ft tall procenium, and many home-made PARs. My vision for the show came out much better than I thought. This was my first chance to do something surreal and strange that wasn't a dance show. These pictures don't truly do justice to the show. Once again my camera had white balance issues, and the cue'ing really brought a lot to the show. Some of the pictures in this gallery were taken by Larry Gibbons. I hope he doesn't mind me putting them here =)

LALT's She Loves Me - Summer 2003 : This was a goofy musical. I designed, plotted, and hung this show in about a weeks time. (I was getting cocky at how fast I could put something up) It looked rather broadway overhead as I brought most of the instruments from front of house down and put them onstage. I think this show could have been better if I could have gotten the board to do longer than a 10 second fade. It really ruined my slow color shift concept for the show. I did however do a number of experiments with color for this show. Most notably with various pinks and salmon. I also discovered Lilac (R55) I have yet to do a show since that didn't involve this most wonderful color.

DT's Lysistrata - Fall 2003 : There was no scripted motivation for all the lighting effects I did for this show. What can you expect from Aristophanes? So I went my own way and the director was willing. I think I really honed my ability to manipulate color in this show. The second act featured a very New Mexico style sunset complete with expensive projections and a huge light boom "contraption" that helped the sun to set. The night time scene pictures' white balance is very wrong, but pretty all the same. This show broke the DT record for number of lights in one show at 117. This was also the fist show I completely designed using the new Wysiwyg Report. It was vastly better than Wyg 3.5, which I had been using for a couple of years.

DT's Heaven and Hell Banquet - 2004 : This was my second banquet lighting design. These are Brandon Yarborough's picutes, mostly of people, but you can see lights in the background. I had a number of ideas for this show, but only a few of them panned out. (mostly because our broken hazer wouldn't fill the blackbox) But...I did do some fun stuff, like hang a light 10 feet down from the grid with safety chains. Many people thought it was hanging by its cable...hehehehe
